My first job was at a start up and mostly they didn't care what anyone wanted to dress up like. And this was an all men organization till then, so when a new girl intern came in for an interview it didn't turn out a good day for the designer of the company to wear shorts to work. It was fine till he was sitting behind the desk, but when he had to get up and out in front it was not a comfortable interview anymore, for the intern at least. Needless to say they didn't hear back from the intern. From what I hear it wasn't even that good a candidate too.
